About Alpha Gamma
Established January 12, 2000, Alpha Gamma Graduate Chapter was the product of the dreams of three unique ladies with academic backgrounds as diverse as the larger organization, but with the same ideals of sisterhood, empowerment, and higher education. Their quest for sisterhood established precedent for the growth of the organization in the state of Texas and as the third graduate chapter established in the United States.
Regresando a Nuestras Raices
We are proud to participate in our own Chapter Philanthropy, “Regresando a Nuestras Raices,” in translation, “Returning to our Roots.” Realizing that we share similar backgrounds and that we are Latin by tradition, our target area of focus deals with the needs that immigrant populations face when they are in transition from their homelands and the issues that can arise in areas of education, health care, and of course, legal matters. Our diverse professional networks allow us to merge our interpersonal skills, networking, and life experiences to create valuable and targeted opportunities where we can create effective and measurable change throughout our communities.
Some of our philanthropic community services are listed below.
- Domestic Violence Workshops with the Fort Worth Police Department
- Citizenship and Immigration Forums
- Citizenship Coalition
- Immigration Reform Gatherings
- International Clothing/Food Drive Campaigns
- F.U.T.U.R.O Program (Focused Urban Teens United and Ready for Opportunity)
- Casa Juan Diego
- Free adult ESL Classes in Fort Worth ISD
In addition, we have also helped first generation college students apply for scholarships/financial aids/loans.
